WHY DANCE?
Dancing is physical exercise that can decrease anxiety and boost mood. Dance is also considered an expressive art form. It also provides connection between the mind and body. It provides social interaction.
PLUS, IT’S FUN!!
Mr. Stasicha and the Student Council members are ready to gear it up and provide us with a great school year filled with fun activities and, of course, dances!!

Kennywood, Here I Come!
Members of the Student Council, Newspaper Club, and Gifted Program enjoyed the day at Kennywood! Partners in Phys. Ed Teach Water Safety
The Life Skill Students are “Lucky Ducks” as they take to the water! They are partnered with BVAHS students and have a weekly opportunity to practice water skills and safety. Each week, all the students look forward to this refreshing educational activity! Mrs. Osborne states, "Swimming is a great sport for the students to partake. Not only do they learn to love and respect the water, they also benefit from the exercise they get from the activities." Emma! A Pop Story Musical
Emma has decided to become a matchmaker. She successfully made a match of two teachers, and now she has her sights on Harriet, a quiet underclassman. Harriet likes Martin, but as a Highbury dining hall worker, Emma feels Harriet should set her sights higher onto Philip Elton, who is running for class president. This backfires as Emma discovers that Philip likes her instead of Harriet. Harriet is crushed. Jane Fairfax, the daughter of a vending machine magnate, will become a new student at Highbury, and to welcome her, a dance is held featuring former student and current rock star Frankie Churchill. Every girl swoons at the sight of him—including Emma! This does not sit well with her best friend, Jeff, who wishes Emma would see what a perfect match they would be! Complications occur when the vending machine company loses money, leaving Jane unable to attend Highbury, a secret love is discovered, a benefit concert is held, and Emma decides if matchmaking is truly for her.
Played before an assortment of restaurant backdrops, we meet families, couples, friends, and waitstaff facing major life changes, following — or failing to follow — their dreams, and gulping down helpings of humor and humility along with their life lessons. And for every “order up,” there’s more proof that life, it turns out, really is like a double cheeseburger: full of endless possibilities, often messy and complicated, but always worth savoring. www.pioneerdrama.com/searchdetail.asp?pc=LIFEISLIKE
BVAMS's Drama Department presented the play to appreciative audiences in its Fall Run. Mrs. Frow, Director, prepared the students for months before the Opening Curtain and was quite pleased with the results!
Our Home Room Competition was a blow-away this year with Mr. Zyski's students having the most participation. The students will receive a donut and drink breakfast for their efforts. However, Mrs. Kruppa's students earned the Highest Honors with the Best Decorated Door. Coming in second were Mr. Stasicha's students, and in third place were Mr. Divelbliss's Home Room students!
Regardless of the "Winning Home Rooms," all our students and staff were reminded of the message to travel through life DRUG-FREE! 4th Annual Color Run
Our Principal, Mr. Grice stated, “On behalf of the students and staff of Belle Vernon Area Middle School, I want to thank everyone who attended and participated in the 4th Annual Color Run! Working together, we were able to raise over $9000 to spent on student activities and opportunities!”
A special shout-out go to Mr. Grice and Mr. Stasicha, Student Council Sponsor, for all their extra efforts to make this such a memorable and successful event. Our contributors from the community are also recognized and truly appreciated! The event not only provided the opportunity for students, staff, parents, and community participation, but it also provided funds to help ALL students have opportunities for enrichment, engagement, and achievement. Contributors who helped make this event such a success include:
